Artist's Bio

A painting of a loved one or a special place will be treasured for years to come. After forty years of painting in many mediums, I feel, although I work mostly from photographs that my paintings are not just copies of them. I try to paint moving experiences, be they people or places, in a painterly fashion.

I am mostly self taught although I have, of over the years, studied drawing and painting. First at the age of twelve my parents urged me to study sketching with an artist in Waukegan, Illinois and then in later years my uncle, who was a landscape artist introduced me to oil painting.

After marrying, raising a family, and later widowed, I continued my artistic journey and took courses at Denison University in Ohio, all the while painting portraits and any commissions that came my way.

I attended a portrait seminar in New York in 1981 conducted by John Howard Sanden, painted a representational mural for a housing developer in La Mision, Baja, California, and several murals in homes, churches, and in the Cape Coral Florida Hospital and numerous portraits.

My work is currently showing at the Frostproof Art Gallery in Frostproof, Florida and the LCA Gallery in Newark, Ohio.
